A senior military official and Presidential appointee arrived in Monrovia over the weekend to take up duty as Security/ Defense Attaché to the Republic of Sierra Leone Embassy in Liberia.

 

Lt. Col. Julius Remie Hindowa Metzger was enlisted into the Army in the 70’s as order ranks and rose up to his present rank. While in Liberia, Lt. Col. Metzger will serve as Security Adviser to the Embassy and will also liaise between Defense and Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ministries on Key Security Issues.

 

 The new Security Attaché replaced Rtd. Commondo Alimamy B. Sesay, who served the mission for five years. Commondo Sesay was withdrawn from the station, since last year.This is not the first time for the Ernest Koroma led Government to post serving Military Officials to our foreign missions.

 

The posting of Lt. Col. Metzger Aka “ Never Work Alone” has been described by observers and even Security Agencies in Sierra Leone as a blessing and positive direction , especially at a time when Guinea and Liberia are preparing for their General Elections, with ours just around the corner.

 

With his wealth of Military experience, many illegal entrances surrounding our borders would be minimized and will soon be a thing of the past.Speaking to the Embassy information unit, on his arrival, Lt. Col. Metzger said his appointment was challenging but that with God on his side, he promise to work diligently for Mama Salone and his expectations will be met.

 

Since his arrival in Liberia, Lt. Col Metzger together with his Personal Assistant Warrant Officer Class (2) Mohamed Kamara have used the map as their Bible and Koran.Lt. Col. Metzger served as order rank until 1980 when he was commissioned in Ghana, followed by two other major military courses at the Jaiji Military Academy and Armourer course in Switzerland.

 

He owns dozens of certificates with regards Military operations. Our Military/Defense Attaché has also held commanding positions in Military operational areas. He served at the Lungi Garrison Barracks as Commander, second Battalion in Makeni, Pujehun, Moyamba, and the Cockeril joint Forces Unit.  Lt. Col Metzger was also the RSLAF’S Project Manager for (operation Pebu) Project between 2003-2006.

 

He will be however missed by his colleagues, especially during the Forces Boxing Day galas.Lt. Col. Metzger is married with three children. He loves his family and he loves music. In a related matter, six Sierra Leoneans are presently in Liberia to sign a five year contract with an American based Medical Centre.

 

During a courtesy call on Officials at the Sierra Leone Embassy here in Monrovia, Dr. Abu-Bakarr Kamara who heads the team from Sierra Leone said their mission in the country was to study and access the work plan which was sent to them before they could do anything. 

The team led by Zokial Medical Centre country co-ordinator, Alphonso together with the American Proprietor visited the 12 clinic centers in Nimba County where the Medical consultants from Sierra Leone, Nigeria and other countries would be rendering their services.  

Meanwhile, the team and their partners are working on documents at the Liberian Justice Ministry.  While in Liberia also, the American based organization would be targeting other areas like Agriculture and Educational sectors, which according to them would be headed by Sierra Leoneans as well.  

Earlier, during their courtesy call, the Embassy Information Attaché Ms. Mariama Coker, welcomed them on behalf of members   and staff of the Republic of Sierra Leone Embassy in Liberia and promised the team of their professional protection at all time.
