Imams Pray For Koroma PDF Print E-mail

 The Council of Imams in Sierra Leone, last Thursday, 4th March 2010, gathered at the Fullah Mosque in Kono to pray for His Excellency the President Dr Ernest Bai Koroma and the people of Sierra Leone.

 

Chief Imams, Imams, Sheiks and Muslim scholars from across the country were in attendance to pray for this nation.

 

 

Speaking on Behalf of the Eastern Province, Sheik Abass Tejan Koroma appealed to the organizers to continue with the programme every year as it gives them the opportunity to come together and pray for the nation and that it brings about unity among the Imams in the country. He added that it will be very difficult for a country to develop without praying to God.

 

 

Alhaji Sheik Mohamed Koroma who spoke on behalf of the Northern region said that God will direct the Head of State and his government to govern this nation. He also stated that the prayer will help this nation to forge ahead and settle dispute where the need arises.

 

 

Alhaji Sheik Ibrahim Bundu from the Western Region appealed to Muslims to bring up their children according to the Islamic doctrine so that they will have the fear of God in them. He pointed out that Muslims should find a method of teaching their children Islamic doctrines because there is limited time to teach their children Arabic in schools.

 

 

The Imams read the holy Quran and prayed for the President, Dr Ernest Bai Koroma, Vice President Alhaji Chief Sam Sumana, cabinet ministers and the people of Sierra Leone.

 

 

Sheik Abdulai M. Jalloh who read the ‘Duwau’ appealed to all Muslims to learn to love one another so that Islam will succeed.

 

 

The Coordinator of the Programme, Mr Osman Jalloh informed the gathering that the purpose of the programme was to pray for His Excellency, Dr Ernest Bai Koroma and his government and the people of Sierra Leone. He reiterated that there is need for the children of this nation to be blessed by Allah so that they will grow according to the teachings of Islam. He noted that God will continue to protect, direct and strengthen President Ernest Bai Koroma adding that he will give him the wisdom to govern this nation.

 

 

 The programme was preceded by a 6 hour reading of the Holy Quran by the Imams in Makeni and at the Themne Mosque in Kono the previous night.
