Danger At Plantain Island…22 Rescued

17 passengers and 5 crew members onboard a wooden boat named Kadija which was traveling from Tombo to Plantain Island were on September 1st 2010 successfully rescued by the Officer Commanding Forward Operation Base (FOB) Tombo, Sub Lieutenant Philip Tairu.

National Youth Commission: The Best Hope For Salone

Government’s setting up of the National Youth Commission is without any iota of doubt, a very good initiative that will go a very long way to drastically cut down on the chronic youth unemployment, improve on their welfare through the necessary skills’ training. So far, the Board of Directors has been put in place with a young and dynamic man, Umar Farouk Sesay. Anytime from now those forming the nucleus of the management of the NYC will be announced to pave the way for the youth commission to start work.

Government Bags US$355M

The government of Sierra Leone will benefit a colossal sum of $355 million for the next seventeen (17) years, courtesy of a new mining agreement signed between Koidu Holdings Company and the Sierra Leone government, through the Minister of Mines, Hon Alpha Kanu.
