When he hosted a meeting last week in what his Press Secretary describes as "in an extraordinarily tough and uncompromising tone, President Ernest Bai Koroma today decried the behaviour and actions of virtually all the ministries and other institutions in charge of law-enforcement in Sierra Leone,''  President Koroma's stance was received with mixed feelings from different quarters.

Poor “Ernest”!!  As Rose Tarawalie (the tall Fullah-looking model-type beautiful wife of the Press Secretary to President Ernest Bai Koroma)  wrote in Torchlight newspaper last week about the loneliness of “Ernest” – I paraphrase: ‘Ernest can’t go out and just relax in the newest restaurant or nightclub like me and you; anywhere he goes, there must be dozens of security men trailing him’  – he does not deserve our envy, but our pity.

Mr. President, I take this sacred task of speaking to you via this medium since I do not have the opportunity to meet with you on a one to one basis. I know it would have been a wonderful opportunity for both of us as there would have been a time for frank cross fertilization of opinions and cracking of ideas.

His Excellency the President, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma will today launch the working phase of the Kenema – Pendembu Road project in Kenema town, Eastern Province. This launching ceremony which starts in Kenema today will end in Pendembu in the Upper Bambara Chiefdom, Kailahun District tomorrow.
